Parliamentary Panel to Examine Satellite Internet Services Amid Starlink Row

Hindustan Times · politics

India's parliamentary committee on communications and information technology will examine satellite internet services. This decision comes amid a public dispute between Elon Musk's Starlink and the Indian government over the company's entry into the country. Musk had accused Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani of running a monopoly that shut out Starlink. The government maintains that satellite internet operators must meet security and regulatory requirements before launching services. Starlink, Jio Satcom, and Eutelsat OneWeb have applied for permission to launch services in India.
