Europe recorded over ten thousand excess deaths during a late June heatwave, with older populations aged sixty-five and above being most severely impacted. Scientists attribute the intensity and frequency of this extreme heat event to human-caused climate change. France and Belgium reported very high excess mortality during the final week of June. जून के आखिर में यूरोप में भीषण गर्मी के कारण दस हजार से ज़्यादा लोगों की मौत हुई। इसमें 65 साल से ज़्यादा उम्र के लोग सबसे ज़्यादा प्रभावित हुए। वैज्ञानिकों का कहना है कि जलवायु परिवर्तन की वजह से ऐसी गर्मी पड़ रही है। फ्रांस और बेल्जियम में जून के आखिरी हफ़्ते में ज़्यादा मौतें दर्ज की गईं। यह दुनिया भर में बढ़ते जलवायु परिवर्तन के खतरे को दिखाता है।
