Man Falls 30 Feet Into Freezing Well, Breaks Back; Months Later, Meets Rescuer

Jonno Stubbs, 61, fell 30 feet into a freezing well on his property in February 2026, sustaining a broken back and foot. He spent three weeks in hospital recovering from the accident, which occurred when the ground gave way as he walked across his yard. Firefighter Jack Gaskell of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was lowered into the well to rescue Stubbs.
