He stated that when public issues are not adequately discussed in democratic forums, they spill onto the streets. Mahant emphasized that the Assembly is a supreme institution for voicing citizens' concerns and fostering meaningful discourse. He noted that even schoolchildren are protesting, which is a cause for concern for the entire state. The LoP urged for increased sittings and duration for upcoming legislative sessions.

छत्तीसगढ़ के नेता प्रतिपक्ष चरण दास महंत ने मुख्यमंत्री विष्णु देव साय को चेतावनी दी है कि विधानसभाओं में बहस के लिए समय कम करने से जन आंदोलन हो सकते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि जब लोकतांत्रिक मंचों पर जन मुद्दों पर ठीक से चर्चा नहीं होती है, तो वे सड़कों पर उतर आते हैं। महंत ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि विधानसभा नागरिकों की चिंताओं को आवाज देने और सार्थक बहस को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक सर्वोच्च संस्था है। उन्होंने कहा कि यहां तक कि स्कूली बच्चे भी विरोध प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं, जो पूरे राज्य के लिए चिंता का विषय है। नेता प्रतिपक्ष ने आगामी विधायी सत्रों के लिए बैठकों और अवधि बढ़ाने का आग्रह किया।
