The Hindu - Business · business
Seven central public sector enterprises engaged in infrastructure have been permitted to raise Rs 40,000 crore through tax-free bonds. This move aligns with a budget announcement, aiming to facilitate fund raising within the remaining months of the fiscal year. NHAI will receive the largest allocation of Rs 24,000 crore, followed by IRFC and HUDCO. The government intends for these enterprises to raise 70% through public issues and the rest via private placement. These bonds offer a unique investment proposition due to their tax-exempt status.
