Delhi Air Quality Plummets to Very Poor, Several Areas Reach Severe Levels

Business Standard · environment

Delhi's air quality dropped to the 'very poor' category on Thursday morning, with the city's average Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 367. Several areas, including Jahangirpuri, IIT Delhi, and Punjabi Bagh, experienced 'severe' AQI levels, exceeding 400. PM2.5 and PM10 were identified as major pollutants. This deterioration is partly attributed to stubble burning in neighbouring Punjab and Haryana. Stage-II restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan remain in effect across Delhi-NCR, highlighting the ongoing air pollution crisis.
