Bombay HC Orders X to Remove Video Targeting Serum Institute and Adar Poonawalla

The Bombay High Court has ordered social media platform X to remove a video that labels Serum Institute of India and its CEO Adar Poonawalla as 'mass murderers'. The court found the video violated an earlier injunction against defamatory content. Influencer Yohan Tengra and three others have been issued a show-cause notice for deliberate disobedience of the court's order. The court clarified that intermediaries like X are not 'super-censors' and only need to act upon actual knowledge of unlawful content via court orders.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म X को सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया और उसके CEO अदार पूनावाला को 'नरसंहार करने वाले' बताने वाला वीडियो हटाने का आदेश दिया है। कोर्ट ने पाया कि वीडियो ने मानहानिकारक सामग्री के खिलाफ पहले के आदेश का उल्लंघन किया है। इन्फ्लुएंसर योहान तेंगरा और तीन अन्य को अदालत के आदेश की जानबूझकर अवज्ञा करने के लिए कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया गया है। अदालत ने स्पष्ट किया कि X जैसे मध्यस्थ 'सुपर-सेंसर' नहीं हैं और उन्हें केवल अदालत के आदेशों के माध्यम से अवैध सामग्री के वास्तविक ज्ञान पर कार्रवाई करने की आवश्यकता है।
