An 80-year-old British Columbia woman's C$5.5 million estate has been awarded to charities as intended, following a legal dispute. After Shirley Isobel Alexander died in April 2025, a friend presented photocopies of a will allegedly naming her as the sole heir. However, the Supreme Court of British Columbia ruled on October 29, 2026, in favour of Alexander's original 2018 will. This will directed her substantial fortune towards various charitable causes, confirming her long-held intentions. The court rejected the friend's claim based on the evidence presented.
