Activists from the Chalakkudy river protection forum are demanding immediate government intervention to secure Kerala's full water share from Sholayar, as per the Parambikulam–Aliyar Project agreement. They urge a halt to Tamil Nadu's diversion of water from the Upper Sholayar Reservoir until Kerala receives its allocated 12,300 million cubic feet annually. Data indicates Kerala has received only 180 million cubic metres between July 1 and, raising concerns about a potential severe summer drought in the Chalakudy River basin.
