Fears of a communications blackout and blockade have resurfaced in northern Ethiopia as fighting intensifies between federal forces and Tigrayan rebels. Telecom and internet services reportedly ceased on Friday, raising concerns of a repeat of the 2020-2022 civil war's isolation. The Tigray People's Liberation Front allegedly ordered network shutdowns, possibly to counter government drone advantages. This escalation, involving alliances and airport seizures, marks the most serious conflict since the devastating civil war that caused famine-like conditions.
