UP Election Chief Orders Removal of Duplicate Voter Entries Ahead of 2027 Polls

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has directed officials to expedite the removal of duplicate voter entries to ensure accurate electoral rolls for the 2027 Assembly elections. This directive follows questions about how multiple voter ID cards can be generated for one person and the Election Commission of India's efforts to detect duplicate applications. Rinwa emphasized that negligence would not be tolerated and accountability would be fixed. Special voter registration camps are scheduled for October 17 and 24 to enrol eligible citizens, especially first-time voters.

उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी नवदीप रिणवा ने अधिकारियों को 2027 के विधानसभा चुनावों के लिए सटीक मतदाता सूची सुनिश्चित करने के लिए डुप्लीकेट वोटर एंट्री को हटाने की प्रक्रिया तेज करने का निर्देश दिया है। यह निर्देश इस सवाल के बाद आया है कि एक व्यक्ति के लिए कई वोटर आईडी कार्ड कैसे बनाए जा सकते हैं और डुप्लीकेट आवेदनों का पता लगाने के लिए भारत निर्वाचन आयोग के प्रयासों के बारे में भी बताया गया। रिणवा ने जोर देकर कहा कि लापरवाही बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएगी और जवाबदेही तय की जाएगी। पात्र नागरिकों, विशेषकर पहली बार वोट देने वालों को नामांकित करने के लिए 17 और 24 अक्टूबर को विशेष मतदाता पंजीकरण शिविर आयोजित किए जाएंगे।
