IITs Face Scrutiny Over Student Deaths

At least 11 student suicides or unnatural deaths have been reported across IITs this year, with 53 such incidents in the last five years. The recent death of Sahil Wakode at IIT-Bombay has intensified concerns, especially with allegations of casteist comments and contested cheating accusations. IITs have a poor record of internal investigations, often ruling out structural issues and blaming academic pressure. This pattern raises questions about institutional culture and the handling of student well-being within these premier institutions.
