Liver Transplant Recipients Show Poorer Lung Function

Adult liver transplant recipients exhibit poorer lung function and increased breathlessness compared to matched individuals in a nationwide study. The research found that 10.7% of recipients had airflow limitation, versus 7.1% of controls. Preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) was also twice as common in recipients. These findings suggest chronic pulmonary issues may be an underrecognized complication following liver transplantation, beyond acute infections.

लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट कराने वाले मरीज़ों में फेफड़ों की सेहत कमजोर पाई गई है। एक राष्ट्रीय स्टडी में पता चला है कि ऐसे मरीज़ों को सांस लेने में ज़्यादा दिक्कत होती है। ट्रांसप्लांट वाले 10.7% लोगों में सांस की नली में रुकावट मिली, जबकि आम लोगों में यह 7.1% थी। इससे लगता है कि लिवर ट्रांसप्लांट के बाद फेफड़ों की पुरानी समस्याएं भी हो सकती हैं, सिर्फ़ इन्फेक्शन ही नहीं।
