Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre Over UPI Fees

Rahul Gandhi has accused the Modi government of opening the door to imposing fees on UPI transactions. He stated that Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) could now be levied on merchant UPI transactions exceeding Rs 2,000. While the government claims customers won't be charged, Gandhi argued that merchants would pass costs to consumers through higher prices. This move, he claimed, aligns with the direction long opposed by American payment companies, suggesting a surrender to US pressure.

राहुल गांधी ने मोदी सरकार पर UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर फीस लगाने का रास्ता खोलने का आरोप लगाया है। उन्होंने कहा कि 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के मर्चेंट UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर अब मर्चेंट डिस्काउंट रेट (MDR) लगाया जा सकता है। सरकार का कहना है कि ग्राहकों से कोई चार्ज नहीं लिया जाएगा, लेकिन गांधी का तर्क है कि मर्चेंट ज़्यादा कीमत वसूलेंगे। उन्होंने दावा किया कि यह कदम अमेरिकी कंपनियों के विरोध की दिशा में है, जो अमेरिकी दबाव के आगे झुकने जैसा है।
