Ethiopian federal forces and pro-government fighters have recaptured the Alula Aba Nega Airport in Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray region. Rebel forces from the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) were reportedly seen retreating from the city. The airport, located about 10km from Mekelle's centre, was one of three airfields seized by rebels on September 23. Residents expressed concern about potential looting and lawlessness due to the absence of security forces in the city.
