Malaysia has deported nearly 1,500 refugees from Myanmar as part of a plan to send back at least 5,000 individuals. This action, taken under an agreement with Myanmar's military government, has instilled fear among the tens of thousands of other refugees residing in Malaysia. Immigration raids on refugee communities have intensified since June, leading to the detention of over 50,000 refugees this year alone. Community leaders report receiving numerous calls from distressed refugees fearing they might be next.
