Odisha Panchayat Polls To Use Paper Ballots, Urban Polls EVMs

Odisha will continue to use paper ballots for its upcoming panchayat elections, while urban local body polls scheduled for March-April will utilize electronic voting machines (EVMs). State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi announced this decision, citing the massive number of EVMs required for rural elections. Panchayat polls involve voting for four posts across numerous booths, necessitating approximately 3.6 lakh EVMs. In contrast, urban polls require fewer machines.
