Most People Have High Genetic Risk For Common Diseases: Study
Hindustan Times · science
A new study reveals that most people globally may have a high genetic predisposition for common conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and schizophrenia, even if they never develop them. Researchers analyzed data from nearly one million individuals, finding that every person's genome contains millions of variants, including some linked to disease. While everyone carries genetic variants associated with illness, these do not always manifest as disease. The findings emphasize the importance of considering context, such as symptoms and family history, when interpreting genetic test results.
