Business Standard · business
Old Monk manufacturer Mohan Rocky Springwater Pvt Ltd informed the Bombay High Court that sales restrictions in Maharashtra have led to company losses exceeding ₹500 crore and cost the state government approximately ₹350 crore in excise revenue. The company is challenging a prohibition order from the FSSAI concerning the rum brand's formulation and labelling. Mohan Rocky Springwater argues that the same formulation is sold from its other Maharashtra units, and competing brands using similar processes have not faced action.
