India Aims for Tenfold Increase in Trade With Germany

Business Standard · business

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has set an ambitious target to increase India-Germany bilateral trade to €310 billion, nearly tenfold the current volume. However, historical trade growth suggests this goal faces significant challenges. India's trade with Germany grew at a modest 3.9% CAGR between 2014 and 2025, reaching $31.2 billion. Achieving the target within a decade would require an extraordinary 27.1% CAGR. India has also consistently maintained a trade deficit with Germany, with aircraft and aviation equipment dominating imports.
