FIIs May Trade Indian Equities, Not Invest Long-Term

Foreign institutional investors have withdrawn nearly $40 billion from Indian equities in the last two years, with little incentive to invest long-term, according to Bernstein analysts. They suggest FIIs might 'return to trade' rather than make structural allocations. Large-cap companies face disruption, and small and mid-caps are difficult to access at scale. Over the next 12 months, FII flows are expected to be flat to modestly positive, driven by easing headwinds.
