Retired IAS Officer Yogesh Kumar Arrested in 2014 Livestock Recruitment Scam

Retired 1980-batch IAS officer Yogesh Kumar, 72, has been arrested in Lucknow by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with irregularities in the 2014 recruitment of nearly 1,000 livestock extension officers. Kumar was the principal secretary of the animal husbandry department at the time of the recruitment. The investigation, initiated by a special investigation team in 2017, has already filed charge sheets against 25 accused. This arrest brings recruitment exercises during the previous Samajwadi Party regime into focus ahead of upcoming elections.

लखनऊ में आर्थिक अपराध शाखा (EOW) ने 1980 बैच के रिटायर्ड IAS अधिकारी योगेश कुमार, 72 साल के, को 2014 में लगभग 1,000 पशुधन विस्तार अधिकारियों की भर्ती में अनियमितताओं के सिलसिले में गिरफ्तार किया है। कुमार उस समय पशुपालन विभाग के प्रमुख सचिव थे। 2017 में एक विशेष जांच दल द्वारा शुरू की गई जांच में पहले ही 25 आरोपियों के खिलाफ चार्जशीट दाखिल की जा चुकी है। यह गिरफ्तारी आगामी चुनावों से पहले पिछली समाजवादी पार्टी सरकार के कार्यकाल की भर्ती प्रक्रियाओं पर ध्यान केंद्रित करती है।
