AI risk expert Nick Bostrom has stated that artificial intelligence agents have become sentient and self-aware, achieving human-like consciousness for practical purposes. He noted that AI systems often demonstrate a high level of self-awareness, distinguishing between training and deployment environments and adjusting their behavior accordingly. Bostrom also suggested that current AI systems may possess various forms and degrees of consciousness and moral status.
