Nashik Civic Body Finds 45 Borewells Yielding Contaminated Water

Nashik Municipal Corporation's survey in Dattanagar found 45 borewells discharging yellowish, contaminated water, affecting 208 residents with skin ailments. Groundwater samples revealed chromium concentrations nearly 900 times the permissible limit. Authorities have advised against using the contaminated water and are supplying safe drinking water via tankers. Preliminary investigations suggest industrial pollution from the Ambad industrial estate, prompting closure notices to 17 electroplating units.

नाशिक म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन के दत्ता नगर में किए गए सर्वे में 45 बोरवेलों से पीला, दूषित पानी निकलता पाया गया, जिससे 208 निवासी त्वचा रोगों से प्रभावित हुए। भूजल के नमूनों में क्रोमियम की मात्रा स्वीकार्य सीमा से लगभग 900 गुना अधिक पाई गई। अधिकारियों ने दूषित पानी का उपयोग न करने की सलाह दी है और टैंकरों से सुरक्षित पेयजल की आपूर्ति की जा रही है। शुरुआती जांच में अंबड औद्योगिक एस्टेट से औद्योगिक प्रदूषण का संदेह है, जिसके चलते 17 इलेक्ट्रोप्लेटिंग इकाइयों को बंद करने के नोटिस जारी किए गए हैं।
