Two Independent Bihar MLCs Join BJP; One Was Party Rebel
Hindustan Times · politics
Two candidates who won Bihar Legislative Council seats as Independents have joined the BJP. Bansi Dhar Brajwasi and Rahul Raj, winners from the Tirhut graduates' and Saran teachers' constituencies respectively, were inducted into the party in Patna. Notably, Rahul Raj had contested the Saran seat as a BJP rebel. This move increases the ruling party's strength in the state legislative council. The opposition RJD has termed the induction illegal, citing constitutional norms and the anti-defection law, and alleged it was a ploy to weaken coalition partners.
