The historic Cochin Gymnasium, established in 1945, has refused to accept the Kochi Corporation's rent proposal. Gym authorities view this as an attempt to control the legacy institution, which has operated rent-free since its inception. The Corporation's audit report flagged the absence of a rental agreement as a lapse. The gym's president stated they predated the Corporation and received no past assistance, fearing future diktats if rent is paid.
