The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has announced a 48-hour shutdown in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, starting Thursday evening, to protest the alleged abduction of two Kuki youths. The youths went missing on Wednesday evening while travelling between two villages. The CoTU suspects non-Kuki extremists are involved and demands their safe release. The shutdown, which exempts medical services, media, and security forces, also highlights alleged discriminatory treatment of the Kuki-Zomi community by authorities.
