Tambaram corporation commissioner S Balachander has been relieved of his duties and placed on compulsory wait due to allegations of tender irregularities in two civic works valued at Rs 45.9 lakh. This action follows a report by the anti-corruption organisation Arappor Iyakkam. The works, including statues at Perungalathur and Chitlapakkam, were allegedly completed and inaugurated before their tenders were opened for bidding. तांबरम कॉर्पोरेशन के कमिश्नर एस. बालाचंदर को टेंडर में गड़बड़ी के आरोपों के चलते हटा दिया गया है। उन पर 45.9 लाख रुपये के दो सिविक कामों में अनियमितता का आरोप है। यह कार्रवाई एंटी-करप्शन संस्था Arappor Iyakkam की रिपोर्ट के बाद हुई है। कहा जा रहा है कि पेरुंगलथुर और चितलापक्कम में मूर्तियां लगाने का काम टेंडर खुलने से पहले ही पूरा हो गया था। अब अवडी कॉर्पोरेशन की कमिश्नर आर. शरण्य अतिरिक्त चार्ज संभालेंगी।
