Mumbai City FC head coach Manolo Marquez has heavily criticized the team's pre-season preparations for the ISL 2026-27 season, labeling them an 'absolute joke'. He stated that the club failed to organize any strong practice matches, deeming the games played as misleading. This criticism comes after Mumbai City's 2-1 loss to Churchill Brothers in their opening match, with goals from Gaurav Bora and Sebastián Gutiérrez. Marquez, who previously managed the Indian national team, joined Mumbai City this summer from FC Goa.
