India's Smartphone Market Shrinks 26% Amidst Rising Prices

Times of India · business

India's smartphone market experienced its sharpest decline in recent quarters, with shipments falling 26% to 35.8 million units in July-September. This slump marks the lowest third-quarter volume since 2016, primarily due to higher prices deterring consumers from upgrading and manufacturers reducing supply. Samsung regained the top spot from Vivo, while the overall market share of Chinese brands decreased from 75% to approximately 68% compared to the previous year. This trend is expected to persist due to ongoing pricing pressures and consumers holding onto devices longer.
