Times of India · politics
Odisha's Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has written to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, questioning the state government's silence on Andhra Pradesh announcing panchayat elections that could extend to disputed Kotia villages. Patnaik questioned the BJP's promise to resolve the Kotia issue and asked if the alliance with Andhra's ruling TDP, a BJP ally, was hindering Odisha's interests. The Kotia dispute involves 28 villages, with Andhra Pradesh claiming 21 and extending administrative services. The Supreme Court has previously directed both states to maintain status quo.
