The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has initiated a drive to remove unused and improperly laid overhead cables across the city, starting with Palayam. Mayor V V Rajesh inaugurated the initiative, which aims to enhance road safety by clearing hazardous wires linked to accidents. The drive will extend to all 101 wards, with an initial focus on five selected areas. Service providers failing to remove their cables will face charges for removal expenses. This effort seeks to improve the city's overhead cable network and pedestrian safety.
