Russia Accused of Using AI for Disinformation Campaigns in Central African Republic

A new report by US-based company Anthropic alleges that Russian agents used the AI model Claude for pro-Russian disinformation campaigns in the Central African Republic. The AI was reportedly used to create propaganda content for Radio Lengo Songo, a station allegedly funded by Russia. This content portrayed the government and Russian mercenaries positively while criticizing France and the opposition. Similar allegations of AI-driven propaganda have been made regarding the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Sudan, and Mali, indicating a broader pattern of influence operations.
