CPI(M) MP: Current Protests Aim to Regain Democratic Space, Not Just CEC Resignation

Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas stated that ongoing nationwide protests extend beyond demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over alleged vote theft. He emphasized the struggle is also about reclaiming democratic space, as current issues affect everyone and threaten progressive ideals. Brittas noted that unlike a former minister who resigned over the NEET-UG exam leak, Kumar's resignation may not come easily due to his crucial role in executing the government's electoral plans.

कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया (मार्क्सवादी) के राज्यसभा सांसद जॉन ब्रिट्टस ने कहा कि देशव्यापी विरोध प्रदर्शन सिर्फ मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त (सीईसी) ग्यानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे की मांग से कहीं बढ़कर है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह लड़ाई लोकतांत्रिक जगह को वापस पाने के लिए है, क्योंकि मौजूदा मुद्दे सभी को प्रभावित कर रहे हैं और प्रगतिशील आदर्शों को खतरे में डाल रहे हैं। ब्रिट्टस ने कहा कि जहां एक पूर्व मंत्री ने नीट-यूजी परीक्षा लीक होने पर इस्तीफा दे दिया था, वहीं कुमार का इस्तीफा आसानी से नहीं आएगा क्योंकि वे सरकार की चुनावी योजनाओं को लागू करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।
