Berlin Withdraws From Germany's Olympic Hosting Race

Berlin has withdrawn from Germany's bid to host a future Summer Olympics, local media reported. This leaves Munich and the Rhine/Ruhr region as the only remaining candidates. The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) will decide on Saturday which region to back for the 2036, 2040, or 2044 Games. Berlin had previously reaffirmed its interest but shifted its stance after recent city elections. An evaluation panel had also rated Berlin's bid third.
