RBI Intervenes To Stabilise Rupee Amidst Volatility Concerns

Business Standard · business

The Reserve Bank of India is actively working to maintain the stability of the Indian Rupee. To combat volatility and speculation, the central bank has intervened in the foreign exchange market and implemented restrictions on currency derivatives. Additionally, the RBI successfully raised foreign currency through special swap schemes, including one targeting non-resident Indians. These efforts led to banks mobilising approximately $133 billion via FCNR (B) deposits, boosting India's foreign exchange reserves to a record high of $785.71 billion.
