Russia's fleet of oil tankers is adopting makeshift drone defenses, including netting and rubber tires, to protect against Ukrainian attacks. Nearly daily since August, these vessels have been observed transiting the Bosporus with such protective layers. At least 60 ships have been documented with these countermeasures, resembling defenses used in Ukraine's front-line cities. Analysts suggest these measures are a crude but necessary response to protect vital components and maintain Russia's crucial oil export revenue stream amidst the ongoing conflict.
