Foreign Investors Cut Stakes In Nearly Half Of Nifty Stocks

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have significantly reduced their exposure to Indian equities, selling nearly ₹3 lakh crore this year. Analysis of Nifty 50 stocks reveals that 21 out of 50 companies saw FII ownership decline across all three quarters of 2026. This broad-based sell-off has impacted stock prices, with several major companies experiencing sharp drops. Max Healthcare saw the largest decline in FII ownership, falling by 10 percentage points. Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) have increased their holdings, absorbing much of the foreign selling pressure.
