Orthodontist Shares 5 Festive Eating Habits To Prevent Cavities
HT - Lifestyle · lifestyle
During India's festive season, high-sugar diets significantly increase the risk of cavities. Orthodontist Dr Aditi Nedungadi advises enjoying sweets with meals rather than snacking throughout the day, as increased saliva production during meals helps neutralise acids. She recommends choosing less sticky treats like caramel-based mithai and limiting their consumption. Staying hydrated with water and opting for tooth-friendly snacks like cheese and nuts after meals are also beneficial. Maintaining a consistent oral hygiene routine, including brushing twice daily, is crucial even during busy celebrations to protect dental health.
