A special CBI court in Lucknow has convicted two postal officials for seeking bribes from a commission agent. Postal assistant Suraj Prasad Mishra received a three-year jail term and a ₹15,000 fine, while sub postmaster Santosh Kumar Saroj was sentenced to six months imprisonment and a ₹5,000 fine. The officials allegedly demanded ₹100 for every ₹20,000 deposited, calling it 'suvidha kharch' or convenience expenses. The CBI caught Mishra accepting a ₹1,000 bribe for processing a deposit. The court found both guilty after evaluating evidence in the 2019 case.
