Times of India · good-news

Environmentalist Vikrant Tongad has transformed a 10-acre illegal dumping ground in Greater Noida into a thriving forest. After securing permission from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, Tongad and his team, supported by volunteers and CSR funding, removed 12 truckloads of waste and recycled 1,600 kg of plastic. Using the Miyawaki method, they planted approximately 3,000 native trees, including Peepal and Ashoka. The once toxic site is now filled with birdsong, where residents can walk and children can play, preventing it from becoming a 'waste mountain'.
