Telangana Prisons Awarded For De-addiction Initiative

The Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department has received the SKOCH Award–2026 for its NIVRUTTI de-addiction centres. This initiative screened 4,200 inmates across five state prisons for substance-use concerns, with 2,126 receiving counselling and treatment. The programme, supported by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aims to reduce drug demand and aid prisoner rehabilitation. It also ensures continued care post-release, helping inmates reintegrate into society. An impact study presented at an international conference highlighted positive outcomes, including inmates postponing bail for treatment.

तेलंगाना जेल विभाग को उसके NIVRUTTI नशामुक्ति केंद्रों के लिए SKOCH Award–2026 मिला है। इस पहल के तहत राज्य की पाँच जेलों में 4,200 कैदियों की जाँच हुई, जिनमें से 2,126 को काउंसलिंग और इलाज मिला। सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय के सहयोग से यह कार्यक्रम नशे की मांग कम करने और कैदियों के पुनर्वास में मदद करता है। रिहाई के बाद भी देखभाल सुनिश्चित की जाती है, जिससे कैदी समाज में फिर से घुल-मिल सकें।
