Sugarcane growers in Mudhol, Karnataka, are adopting a new strategy for the upcoming crushing season, demanding that all outstanding dues from the previous season be cleared before negotiating prices for the new season. Farmers are seeking an additional Rs 300 per tonne as the second installment for cane supplied in the 2025 season. They have submitted representations to local authorities, insisting on payment before price discussions commence.
