The Supreme Court has declined to hear a petition challenging amendments made to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in 2015 and 2018. These amendments expanded the list of atrocities, accelerated trials, and enhanced victim protection. The 2018 changes had reversed a previous judgment that required preliminary inquiries before arrests. The petitioner argued the amendments were arbitrary and created reverse discrimination.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 2015 और 2018 में Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act में किए गए संशोधनों को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका सुनने से इनकार कर दिया है। इन संशोधनों से अत्याचारों की सूची बढ़ी, सुनवाई तेज हुई और पीड़ितों को बेहतर सुरक्षा मिली। 2018 के बदलावों ने गिरफ्तारी से पहले प्रारंभिक जांच की आवश्यकता वाले पिछले फैसले को पलट दिया था। याचिकाकर्ता का तर्क था कि ये संशोधन मनमाने थे और रिवर्स डिस्क्रिमिनेशन पैदा कर रहे थे।
