A farmer in Wayanad, Kerala, has developed an innovative method to grow potatoes and other vegetables using fallen leaves. C V Varghese constructs five-foot-high mesh towers, filling them with layers of dry leaves, cow dung, goat dung, neem cake, and organic soil. A central PVC pipe with holes ensures even watering throughout the vertical system. This space-saving technique allows for home gardening on terraces or in small outdoor areas, demonstrating a sustainable approach to food cultivation.
