The Delhi government has initiated a verification drive to identify ineligible beneficiaries of its old age pension scheme, which covers approximately 4.4 lakh senior citizens. This door-to-door biometric verification process, conducted by Common Service Centres, aims to remove deceased and duplicate beneficiaries. The exercise is expected to conclude in three months and anticipates creating 20-25% vacancies. The scheme currently provides Rs 2,000 or Rs 2,500 monthly pensions based on age.
