Gig workers' unions in Karnataka have urged the state's Platform-Based Gig Workers Welfare Board to implement promised welfare schemes. Unions like IFAT and KAWU are seeking immediate rollout of health and accident insurance, income support, maternity benefits, scholarships, and an emergency distress fund for approximately 700,000 active gig workers. They also requested portable pension and retirement benefits. The unions highlighted the urgent need for social security due to income shocks and health emergencies faced by workers.

कर्नाटक में गिग वर्कर्स के यूनियनों ने राज्य के प्लेटफॉर्म-आधारित गिग वर्कर्स वेलफेयर बोर्ड से वादा की गई कल्याणकारी योजनाओं को लागू करने का आग्रह किया है। IFAT और KAWU जैसे यूनियनों ने लगभग 700,000 सक्रिय गिग वर्कर्स के लिए स्वास्थ्य और दुर्घटना बीमा, आय सहायता, मातृत्व लाभ, छात्रवृत्ति और एक आपातकालीन संकट कोष की तत्काल शुरुआत की मांग की है। उन्होंने पोर्टेबल पेंशन और सेवानिवृत्ति लाभों का भी अनुरोध किया। यूनियनों ने वर्कर्स द्वारा सामना किए जाने वाले आय झटकों और स्वास्थ्य आपात स्थितियों के कारण सामाजिक सुरक्षा की तत्काल आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डाला।
