Tamil Nadu to Establish 26 New POCSO Courts To Speed Up Justice

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has ordered the establishment of 26 new special courts to expedite trials under the POCSO Act. This initiative aims to ensure victims of sexual offenses against children receive timely justice and that perpetrators are swiftly punished. Currently, 22 POCSO special courts are operational, with four more set to open soon. The new courts, costing ₹46.59 crore, will bring the total to 52 across 47 police districts, significantly reducing case backlogs and deterring future crimes.

तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री एम.के. स्टालिन ने POCSO एक्ट के तहत मामलों की सुनवाई तेज करने के लिए 26 नई विशेष अदालतें स्थापित करने का आदेश दिया है। इस पहल का मकसद बच्चों के खिलाफ यौन अपराधों के पीड़ितों को समय पर न्याय सुनिश्चित करना और अपराधियों को तुरंत सजा दिलाना है। वर्तमान में, 22 POCSO विशेष अदालतें काम कर रही हैं, और चार और जल्द ही खुलने वाली हैं। ₹46.59 करोड़ की लागत से बनने वाली ये नई अदालतें, 47 पुलिस जिलों में कुल 52 अदालतों की संख्या पूरी करेंगी, जिससे मामलों का बैकलॉग काफी कम होगा और भविष्य में अपराधों को रोका जा सकेगा।
