Sri Lankan Tamil Parties Seek India's Sustained Push For Accord Implementation
The Hindu - International · world
Representatives of Sri Lanka's Tamil parties have urged India to ensure the sustained implementation of the 1987 Indo-Lanka Accord. They met with Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan in Colombo, highlighting that the Accord's spirit, aimed at granting Tamils equal rights and political power, remains unfulfilled. The parties emphasized that the Accord, a state-to-state treaty, has not been fully realized even through the 13th Amendment. They stressed the need for irrevocable power-sharing based on a federal model, regardless of political changes in either country.
