Punjab Bandh Disrupts Ludhiana Schools; Attendance Halved
Hindustan Times · education
A statewide bandh in Punjab protesting the murder of activist Parvinder Singh Jhota significantly impacted attendance at Ludhiana's government schools on Thursday. Head teachers reported that only about half of the students attended, with one primary school in New Subhash Nagar recording zero attendance. While schools remained officially open, parents' safety concerns kept many children, especially younger ones, at home. Some private schools closed as a precaution, while others offered online classes to ensure continuity of education amidst the shutdown.
